When you are leading improvement projects, one of the most interesting things that occur is that the process that you are working on improving does not stay intact. Your improvement project may involve different team members from different business areas, business divisions, countries or include different external organizations including customers, suppliers, etc. Due to this, the number of changes that will occur during the improvement process will multiply. So, if you already know that the process you are working on improving won’t stay intact, how do you respond?
By being flexible.
Being flexible when leading improvement projects means that you are open to adjusting your tactics depending on the changes you detect in the process you are improving. It’s important you stick to the methodology you are using, but don’t be afraid to adjust how you do things. The point here is that you, as the team leader, are flexible and open to change. From the Agile point of view, you are open to change instead of fearing it.
How have you been flexible in your projects?
